I agree with Hogryder. Loosen the belt some, a bit less tension is better than too tight.
I use a mixture of soap water and Talkum (don't know the english expression), like
"Penaten Baby Puder". Don't laugh, it works. The stuff doesn't disolve, but as long as you
keep stirring while applying it to the belt you have no problems. And after drying, a fine, thin layer
of Talkum keeps sticking to the belt keeping all squeaks away. Don't use anything like silicon oil
etc. on the belt, it will soften it eventually making the teeths slip over the pulleys.
